Expert ball retention
There are few players in the Premier League who can match Ndiaye for his ability to retain the ball and dribble past opponents. With his low centre of gravity, and quick turn of pace, Ndiaye is an expert at transitioning defensive actions into Everton counter-attacks.
Versatile attacker
Whether operating as a free-roaming 10, or playing out wide, Ndiaye is a constant threat to opposing defenders. His versatility has been key to his time on the blue half of Merseyside, and his maverick tendencies make him a real fan-favourite.
Exceptional work rate
One of the reasons Ndiaye is such a favourite of Moyes is down to his work off the ball as well as on it. To succeed in a Moyes team, you have to contribute defensively as well as in attack, and Ndiaye certainly does that.
Iliman Ndiaye: Everton talisman, Moyes favourite, and transfer rumours
Since arriving from Marseille in the summer of 2024, Iliman Ndiaye has become a real fans favourite among the Everton favourite. On his day, the versatile Senegal forward is comfortably among the most talented players in the Premier League, mixing a real creative outlet with an eye for goal. Critics might argue that he has lacked consistency at times, but the Toffees supporters know what a prized gem they have on their hands. So too does manager David Moyes, who has regularly spoken of the fact the 26-year-old is not for sale. The issue is that with the likes of Arsenal having been credited with an interest, rejecting big-money sales might not be an option. But, for now, Ndiaye is a key figure at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and hopefully he will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.
Iliman Ndiaye: 2025-26 Everton season timeline
- August to October 2025: Adapting for Grealish: Ndiaye’s versatility is such a huge asset for Everton, and it was particularly important at the start of the campaign as he switched from his favoured left flank to the right in order to accommodate Jack Grealish into the starting XI.
- November 2025: Solo stunner v Sunderland: Ndiaye provided a timely reminder of his enduring quality at the start of November, finishing a mazy run with a lovely left-foot finish into the top-left corner. The Black Cats would earn a 1-1 draw, but it was a fantastic goal.
- January 2026: AFCON glory: Everton really missed their talisman during his absence with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations. Ndiaye would come back a champion after a controversy-filled final against Morocco.
- March 2026: Too hot for Chelsea to handle: Ndiaye was influential as Everton defeated Chelsea 3-0 at the back end of March, arrowing an excellent curling strike into the top-right corner to round out the victory after Beto’s double.
- March international break: Injury trouble: Ndiaye was called up by Senegal but was ruled out of both fixtures, with a supposed foot issue picked up on club duty listed.
