Direct Dribbling
Dibling’s performances at Southampton were defined by his fearlessness in one-on-one situations. He impressed with his ability to attack defenders, while finding space in tight pockets in congested areas.
Creative Vision
Moreover, Dibling attracted attention for his ability to pick out a killer pass in the final third. Cutting in from the right onto his stronger left foot, Dibling looks to service strikers early, and make runs into the box.
Physical Demands
One area of struggle, particularly since moving to Everton, is coping with the physical demands. David Moyes loves players who are just as good off the ball as they are on it. Unfortunately, Dibling has struggled to really prove his worth in both areas thus far.
Tyler Dibling: Can Everton get the most out of mercurial winger’s potential?
There was a huge amount of expectation when Everton forked out a reported £40million to sign Dibling from Southampton last summer. There was reportedly a whole list of Premier League suitors that the Toffees had to fight off competition from to sign the mercurial winger, who was only 19 at the time he moved to Hill Dickinson Stadium. Unfortunately, thus far, the move has not really taken off. Dibling has found minutes hard to come by in the top flight, finding himself behind the likes of Iliman Ndiaye, Dwight McNeil, Tyrique George and Jack Grealish – before the latter’s untimely season-ending injury. Still only 20, there remains huge hope that Dibling can find some form and really kick on at Everton. But, thus far Everton supporters have yet to see the best out of their high-profile summer signing.
What has David Moyes said about Tyler Dibling?
When Everton signed Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea in January, it only added to the competition Dibling was facing for minutes at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Moyes was unrepentant in his thoughts about Dibling’s situation, though, and gave a pretty stern kick up the backside when asked about his situation in February 2026.
“I’d be thinking I better get my finger out and show the manager what I was really all about,” Moyes said.
“I think he’s one who we think we’ve got a really good, talented player on our hands. We need him to develop and get used to us a little bit.
“He’ll probably need a little bit of time. Even me looking towards the start of next season, I’m saying pre-season friendlies etcetera, all those things will help get him more established than when we got him in.
“Look, he’s beginning to learn a lot more about us. He’ll get game time I’m sure between now and the end of the season, so it’s good.
